Ken Larsen, CR, WLS, FLS, ERS, CMP, RTPE, CSDS has been involved in the industry for more than 44 years as a restoration contractor, industry trainer, author and advocate for the water damage and restorative drying segment of the cleaning and restoration industry. Recipient of the 32nd RIA Martin L. King Award for his many contributions and sincere dedication to the Restoration Industry, he has practical experience in blue collar, white collar and expert/consultant positions on several high profile and very large loss restoration projects. This experience has been an important asset in the subjects covered in his formal education programs delivered to a worldwide audience.
He is a frequent contributor to industry trade journals and a past RIA Golden Quill award winner for C&R magazine. He presently serves on C&R’s editorial advisory committee.
Ken has pioneered some industry concepts that have led to mainstream industry best practices such as Digital Photo Inventory for contents restoration and standardized moisture content verification reports for drying projects. He is an author of the structural restorative drying industry’s 530 page, leading technical reference guide Leadership in Restorative Drying.
Ken has served on multiple IICRC committees and task forces and contributed to their certification and standards development activities over the years. Students of structural restoration typically enjoy Ken’s very casual and interactive style of instruction while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy. He is currently an IICRC Approved instructor of WRT, ASD and CDS certificate courses. He serves as Chairman for RIA approved Instructors, Trainers and Subject Matter Experts, a sub-committee of RIA’s Education Committee. Larsen presently serves as Senior Technical Director for the International Dry Standard Organization (IDSO) and Director of Education for the Restoration Leadership Institute (RLI) and lead consultant for the Restoration Expert Panel (REP) and DryStandard Inspections (DSi). He is also a Registered Third Party Evaluator® (RTPE).
An active member of RIA from many years Ken has served on several of its association technical advisory committees. One of his most prominent contributions to the industry has been as a member of the Certified Restorer (CR) redevelopment transition team. He presently serves as a CR program advisor to RIA staff and is an instructor for the CR prep week course.
